Music blog: Email to the Beat

Hello, as we all started to work on our project. The first thing that we had to do was look for music that we would be using for the background of our film. So everyone including myself started looking for music that would fit the theme that we were going for. It took us a while to find some songs. Mostly me as I was a little overwhelmed with the amount of tracks that I found and couldn’t listen to all of them so. I tried I putting my best tracks into a YouTube playlist. So that my teammates could listen to them. I was primarily Looking for Erie music something haunting. That could give suspense to the listener. As always looking through music I took a lot of inspiration from horror games. For example mostly silent hill and resident evil for that there is some thing greater eeriness. But it wasn’t cutting the mark as I was leaving out the sci-fi aspect so it was just giving a little bit too much horror and it just wasn’t a good balance. So we decided on other music for example Billy Joel’s “The Stranger”. One of my group mates an contacted both Billy Joel and Universal Music Group to see if we could use the song as we waited we decided that it would just be better to try to use royalty free music. Then wait as to not waste time. I searched for free music and used the websites Bensound, Pixabay, and mixkit. I looked for sci-fi dark music like “Darkness” by Defekt Maschine or “Mystic Train Drone Atmo Background” by szegvaria as they gave a more ominous and other worldly feel, as if you’re not supposed to be there. as of right now we have not chosen a concrete song. As some of my group mates maybe wanted to make their own elements. We did make a lot of progress as of right now we’ll leave more of the concrete music choices for the end of our editing process. It will make it a lot easier for us to at least have some idea of the music that we want to use right now rather than later.

Below are the two songs I chose on the website Pixabay
